Mount Sinai South Nassau presents:

TRUTH IN MEDICINE

Is having a leaky bladder during exercise normal?

Q:Is having a leaky bladder during exercise normal?

A:It’s common, but not normal. Urinary Incontinence (bladder leakage) may be common but it is never normal. There are many factors that can contribute to the onset of incontinence, including a poor diet, not being active, hormonal changes, and being overweight. In women, pregnancy and childbirth also can increase the risk.

In many cases, urinary incontinence can be improved with exercise and behavioral changes.
